Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s elevated hoop. The game is played on a rectangular court, with a hoop at each end. Players can move the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball while running) or passing to teammates. Scoring occurs when a player successfully shoots the ball into the opponent’s hoop, with points awarded based on the distance from which the shot is taken. The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive tactics. Basketball is governed by specific rules that dictate gameplay, fouls, and scoring, and it is played at various levels, from local recreational leagues to professional and international competitions.
